A photographer's greatest gift is the ability to find and capture subjects that most people would never notice, such as this tiny sea shell. This shell was found in the exact position as shown in the photo; notice the sand wash up the sides of the shell, there are no pressure marks from the shell being inserted into the sand.

Of all the different areas of photography, cultural and people photography is one of the widest and most creative! This photo was captured during the annual Avarua Drum Competition on the island of Raratonga, Cook Islands / New Zealand. These types of photos require an eye for action, creativity, and plenty of patience. Not always will the subject remain in the same position for long, this requires the photographer to stand with his eye glued to the camera's view finder.
